Self Initiated MA Project
Salon Limited is an online art exhibition. The artists come from different cultures and disciplines. I find very interesting the way the artworks interact with eachother and so i based the entire website on this concept. My idea was to give the end user the opportunity to view the exhibition following his own path, to see the artworks always in combinations and to give him endless possibilities.
The artists were asked to submit not a single image or film but a series of them. Each part of the series was named after an abstract word, taken from a list made by the artists. Theose words are the "keywords", standing for the sub-categories.
When you click on a thumbnail you move to a new page where you can see your chosen artwork and on the right two rows; the top one displaying the artworks under the same keyword and the bottom one, the other parts of the series from the same artist.
My data consisted of 25 artists, 12 keywords and 48 artworks, from different media,video, sound or images. I have to say I didn't make it easy on myself. The entire website was built in flash.
